The Product House introduce the Therapist Learning Community initiative to support spas amidst COVID-19 difficulties
Spa and wellness industry leaders in the Middle East have united to support the community in the region. The Product House has developed a specific programme for therapists to learn and become accredited online during this challenging time. Therapists from each spa in the region will be given an opportunity to secure a place to take part in an online training course where they can gain an internationally accredited qualification. This is offered at no cost in order to support staff whose lives have been so adversely affected.
As a collective, the Therapist Learning Community (TLC) course will offer spas the opportunity to reward one of their
therapists with a placement on a BABTAC Training School course at The Product House. This four day course, starting on the 19th of April, will be conducted online via audio conferencing to allow therapists and staff to continue to practice social distancing, and will only require face-to-face involvement for the final exam at The Product House training facility. We have also extended this offer not just to our own spa partners, but to all spas across the GCC with the hope that the entire community will benefit. Therapists will be able to take part in the course online, or spa managers will be able to nominate a member of their team who they feel deserve to take part.
Janette Watts, FOUNDER of The Product House has said:
“The current situation has temporarily negatively affected the economy, spa and wellness industry and individuals
worldwide. Although it will take some time, energy and resources to work through this challenging period, we are striving to take some little steps of positivity and kindness in order to give back to the wonderful spa and wellness community in this region. As such, we are offering a small lifeline to therapists from every spa, and in taking these small steps we hope this will provide a glimmer of hope and enable the community to rise up and be strong.”
In these extraordinary circumstances BABTAC are sponsoring the accreditation of the awards by reducing the costs of certification. This initiative, with the involvement and sponsorship of some of the Middle East’s spa industry leaders, has quickly evolved into a multifaceted project. The course is also being sponsored by our partners Gharieni as a gesture of thanks to the industry. Additionally, a video of the highlights of the course will be filmed at the new Gharieni show room at the Park Hyatt Dubai.
Sammy Gharieni, founder and CEO commented:
“Special challenges need special actions and as a company with a strong focus on innovation, we want to support innovative solutions to help and to unite the industry in this difficult time. Especially with current “social distancing” we must remain unified and join forces for our beautiful industry.”
Spa Connectors is also joining The Product House in the joint venture, bringing their expertise to the field of training and development of individuals that have been impacted by the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Kathryn Moore, Founder and Managing Director of Spa Connectors has said:
“ Our team has tailored some of our training modules from our renowned X Factor course to help promote an open mindset, providing students with the tools to improve emotional well-being and encourage positivity. Understanding how to deal with change in these challenging times can be confusing; our course, guiding students through emotional intelligence, will help to support motivation and maintain social skills. We are honored to bring our training expertise to this collaboration.”
Also backing the initiative, Professional Beauty GCC will be sponsoring and contributing further support to the industry in this region. Emma Baron, Deputy General Manager of Professional Beauty GCC, the media partner supporting the initiative comments:
“The core of our business is to help support and raise industry standards amongst the beauty, hair and spa communities in the Middle East. During these unprecedented times it is more important than ever to join forces to help those who need it most. The therapists within our sector work tirelessly to make customers feel that little bit better about themselves – and now it’s their turn to be rewarded. The Product House has created a truly amazing opportunity for the spa industry at a time when morale needs to be boosted – and for this reason we couldn’t be prouder to help support this initiative.”
Under this new climate, everyone within the industry is seeking ways to maintain their businesses whilst prioritizing the health and wellbeing of their staff and customers. Such a close knit community leads to sharing ideas between businesses, which in turn evolved into a joint effort to not only help one another, but give something back. Through collaborating with these industry powerhouses, and with the support of BABTAC, we hope that therapists will use this difficult time as an opportunity to learn new skills, improve, and eventually go back to work, ready for success.
